NZASE's objective is to support and upskill the teaching of Science (all aspects) in all primary and secondary schools in Aotearoa.

Its aims are to promote the development of science education throughout New Zealand, to facilitate liaison and cooperation between regional science teachers’ associations, while assisting them in their efforts to sustain and expand their activities.

NZASE disseminates information, articles and other material related to science education through newsletters, journals and other means, and organises conferences for its members to enhance their knowledge, skills and interest.
