The New Zealand History Teachers' Association/Te Puna Mātauranga o Nga Kaiwhakaako Hītori o Aotearoa Network of Expertise was established to help support and inform primarily History teachers in the secondary sector.

Two key ways of doing this are through regular email-outs with topical information, and surveys of the membership to help guide its policies.

NZHTA is also an advocacy group, and its most significant accomplishment has been the successful campaign to get Aotearoa-NZ histories taught in our schools.
